Safety policy
- Safety Management System (SMS)HAFHASHTAD Air operates its safety management system in line with the requirements of the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran and the standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Under this system, hazards in flight, technical and ground operations are identified and recorded systematically, the risk of each is assessed by severity and likelihood, and proportionate controls are set and followed up until the risk is reduced to an acceptable level. The effectiveness of these controls is measured through safety performance indicators, internal audits and periodic management review. In every operational decision, safety takes precedence over commercial considerations and the schedule, and final accountability rests with the company’s accountable manager.
- Training and competencePilots, cabin crew, maintenance engineers and technicians, and ground operations staff are assigned to duty only while they hold a valid licence, rating and medical certificate as required by the Civil Aviation Organization. Initial and recurrent training, including flight simulator sessions, emergency and cabin safety procedures, crew resource management (CRM), dangerous goods and human factors, is delivered under an approved programme and its records are kept. No member of operational staff is assigned to a related duty after their training or licence has expired, until it is renewed. Flight and duty time limits and crew rest periods are observed as the regulations require.
- MaintenanceThe aircraft of the fleet are maintained and repaired under a maintenance programme approved by the Civil Aviation Organization and the manufacturer’s instructions, and only by maintenance organisations holding a valid approval and by licensed staff. Airworthiness directives are carried out within their time limits, parts are obtained only from approved sources with traceable documents, and the technical records of each aircraft are kept in full. No aircraft is dispatched without a certificate of release to service issued by an authorised person, and every defect is rectified under the minimum equipment list (MEL) within the time allowed. The pilot in command has the authority not to operate a flight they consider unsafe.
- Just culture reportingAny member of staff, contractor or passenger may report a safety occurrence, hazard or concern. The identity of the reporter is kept confidential, and the information in a report is used only to improve safety. The company undertakes not to reprimand or penalise anyone for honestly reporting an error or occurrence; this protection does not cover wilful violations, gross negligence or criminal acts. Every report is recorded and reviewed, and corrective action is taken where needed. Occurrences that must be reported under the regulations are notified to the Civil Aviation Organization within the time required.
